My thesis

From 2013 to 2021 I studied Russian studies at the University of Freiburg. Here I am making my master's thesis available in a revised edition.

Soviet Literature and Emigration

The literary programme of the Posev publishing house in the Thaw period

How did a small émigré press become a voice of resistance against an empire? This thesis examines the history of Posev, which promoted Russian exile literature, smuggled banned texts into the Soviet Union, and was closely linked to the anti-communist NTS movement.

From refugee camps to global influence, it traces the development of a literary programme meant to cross political and cultural borders: the power of literature in the field of tension between ideology, history, and identity.

Master's thesis, University of Freiburg, defended on 3 May 2021. This is the revised edition (as of August 2026) with linguistic and typographic corrections.
